Insurers should dig deeper for life policyholders’ beneficiaries

A strong majority of people believe that insurance companies should work harder to find the beneficiaries of life insurance policyholders who die, according to the latest IFAwebnews.com poll.

Exactly 83% of poll respondents thought insurance companies must more aggressively seek beneficiaries. The remainder disagreed with the approach.

The New York Department of Financial Services recently issued rules mandating that every life insurance company operating in the state check its policies against a federal master death list to ensure that people due death benefits receive them as quickly as possible.
